THERE IS A FOUNTAIN PART II

I’M sorry to have not finished the first post on the topic THERE IS A FOUNTAIN FILLED WITH BLOOD–I had some issues –again–with something when I was uploading a picture–so this is the hymn that I want to share with you today–

thCA5DKMS1

There is a fountain filled with blood

Drawn from Immanuel’s veins;

And sinners plunged beneath that flood,

Lose all their guilty stains—-

th (16)

the dying thief rejoiced to see

That fountain in his day;

And there may I, though vile as he,

Wash all my sins away—

thCAPS0VTI

Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood

Shall never lose its power,

Till all the ransomed church of God

Be saved, to sin no more—-

hereiamlord

E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream

Thy flowing wounds supply,

Redeeming love has been my theme,

And shall be till I die:——-

Then in a nobler, sweeter song,

I’ll sing Thy power to save,

When this poor lisping, stammering tongue

Lies silent in the grave—-

If you have never asked Jesus to forgive your sins and enter your heart I urge you to do it today. He is waiting for you to make that next move and He will embrace you in His love forever.

God is Merciful and Forgiving But He Will in No Means Clear the Guilty

“And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious,longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that by no means will clear the guilty; visiting the inquity of  the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.” Exodus 34:6,7

What a wonderful God we have!!  In this passage of scripture  He reveals Himself to Moses( and to us through His Word)  His great qualities of—mercifulness(compassion)—graciousness (kindness) —longsuffering (patience endurance of offense)— abundant in goodness (no definition needed here) and truth.  No exceptions!! He extends this to all of us!! How wonderful!! No matter who we are He loves us because He is our great creator. This is especially true for born again believers.

The next part reveals what He is willing to do about our sins—he is willing to forgive  our iniquities ( our wickedness)– our transgressions (our violations of His commandments) —and sin.  Again how wonderful!! He not only does this He is “willing” to do this even after we have lived a wicked and sinful life. For believers it is as if we can go to him with this slate filled up with the wrongs we have commited and He will wipe it all away and give us a clean slate and a clean start. I John 1:9.  This by a holy God who is Himself righteous and sinless. How amazing!!

But then we come to the words “by no means clear the guilty”  visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and upon children’s children to the fourth generation.”  God gives us a picture of Himself in His great love for us and forgiveness but reminds us that that by no means will He clear the guilty. This means that the consequences of our sin will  live out in our lives and the lives of our children and so on.  Not a pleasant thought but perhaps if we thought more about that,especially when we are young we would think twice before we decided to go along with the crowd and drink and do drugs or sample immorality in some way.  We all have a free will and we, even as believers, are free to sin but a holy God will still demand an accounting of that. Yes He forgives our sins and that is a great relief and He remembers them no more but the consequence of sin does not disappear so readily. In our own lives we reap what we sow. Stop and think about this–your children and your grandchildren and your great grandchildren will be affected by it.  God says so.  While we remember He is a God of love we also need to be reminded to fear God. This is so lacking in our society today and it brings all kinds of heartaches and troubles into our lives as we think we can “get by” with a little sin here and there and it will not affect us.  Alas here we learn it not only affects us but our decendants after us.
